- Once the personal representative qualifies, administration begins when letters testamentary or letters of administration are issued (SDCL 29A-3-103). Bring questions about the original will's physical delivery to the clerk of courts because the application must state where the original will is.
- Administer the estate, gather property, pay proper expenses and claims, distribute what remains, and close by the available closing statement or court settlement process under SDCL 29A-3-1003 or SDCL 29A-3-1001.
