Jefferson County is in the 1st Judicial District with Gilpin County (C.R.S. § 13-5-102). The court states that the First Judicial District includes Jefferson and Gilpin counties and has multiple judicial officers serving the district. Gilpin County has its own courthouse and its own probate registrar, so a Gilpin estate is not filed in Golden.
